Hi ,
Excitement! Intrigue! Recrimination! Liz Truss!
That's right, it was the UK Tory conference this week, as the leadership hopefuls for the English branch office of Russell Findlay's Conservative party made their pitches to the faithful.
But while the final four were jostling for position, it was former prime minister Liz Truss who took the headlines, after claiming she would have done better than Rishi Sunak in the general election.
She also skillfully batted away suggestions that she lacked a sense of humour by arguing jokes about her from "left-wing" comics were not funny because they were "in power" as part of the liberal establishment.
This newsletter might sensitively argue that comedians are probably further from the levers of power than the prime minister, but that's none of our business.
Now, in the revolutionary spirit of Truss, here are The Ferret's latest stories holding the powerful to account.
