Hi ,

It has been a week of political machinations.

Leaders have tried to cling to power. Successors have jockeyed for position. Old regimes have tried to reassert themselves.

But today I'm proud to announce that my hostile takeover of this newsletter is finally complete.

(And while all that was going on we even had time to do some great journalism and work on some exciting news we'll share soon).
Yours,
Paul

Don't worry, Ali will be back next week.
Story of the week
An in-depth look at a Ferret investigation
This summer Glasgow will be the first UK city to open a sanctioned safer drug consumption facility.

Ahead of its opening, The Ferret spent time with the Moss Park community in Toronto to find out how its consumption space saves lives and helps people heal.

The podcast covers a day-in-the-life of this site, which was set-up illegally as an emergency response to escalating deaths in the neighbourhood before being granted permission to operate as a consumption and treatment service in 2018.

We heard from those struggling to cope with the realities of addiction to super-strength fentanyl as well as those whose lives had been saved by the Moss Park team.
