Hi ,

It's difficult to keep up as the zone continues to be flooded with sh*t, but Donald Trump's hokey-cokey tariffs are still dominating news and causing havoc. At time of writing, tariffs on Canada are in, but they could soon be out - given Trump's fickleness.

But all this presidential flip-flopping has made Canadians apoplectic. They have progressed from booing the US anthem at ice hockey matches to boycotting US goods and cancelling holidays south of the border. They also have a new leader - former Bank of England governor Mark Carney - who vowed to win the trade war against Trump, after a landslide victory to replace Justin Trudeau.

Watch this space.

Meanwhile, it would appear the "boycott the US" movement is spreading. Sales of Elon Musk's Tesla cars have plummeted in Europe, and a Norwegian firm recently announced a boycott of fuel supplies to US navy ships, amongst other developments.

And yesterday prime minister Keir Starmer told the House of Commons he was not ruling out retaliatory UK tariffs against the US - should the need arise. Trump's tsunami will no doubt keep flooding the zone but please rest assured The Ferret won't be distracted from the day job - investigating we shall go.

Finally, our AGM next month will discuss what Trump 2.0 means for Scotland as part of our 10th anniversary celebrations. So, The Ferret invites you to join us for this timely discussion featuring a panel of expert speakers (to be announced soon). Details here.

Yours,

Billy
