Hi ,

It might be the brutally cold weather or the fact that we've been relentlessly pushing our Christmas advertising campaign, but it feels like the festive build up has been rather lengthy this year.

Hopefully you still have some mental space for festive cheer in the embers of this year, as we're continuing the 12 days of Ferretmas (use this code for your first three months free) up until Xmas.

Then on the day itself we'll be continuing a tradition that has become as weel-kent as mince pies, opening presents and arguing with relatives: the Christmas fact check!

This will be our last Ferret Underground newsletter until the wild unknowns of 2023, so all that remains to say is thanks for your support this year, and have a good festive period.

Yours,
Ali from The Ferret
Story of the week
An in-depth look at a Ferret investigation
As temperatures fell to minus six on Wednesday evening in Glasgow – eight days after 29-year-old Marek ran out of gas and was unable to top-up his meter – he decided he couldn’t take the cold any longer. He packed a bag and went to sleep at a friend’s flat.

His situation is one faced by tens of thousands of the poorest Scots households who went without power for heating, hot water or light in the coldest months of last winter, new figures suggest.
